Special Events

All special events that take place in the Culinary Studies Institute are a means to provide a  "real" hands-on learning experience for our students in training!

Our seasoned students in "Events & Catering" are applying their newly attained skills to plan, organize, and execute themed events. They are managers leading our student volunteers in assigned tasks such as banquet service, bartending, décor, and clean up.

Students in "Buffet & Banquets" are planning and preparing the exciting menus for banquet and buffet style service, a very different experience than our restaurants. Their challenge is to execute the well seasoned beautiful plates they imagined for our guests.

"Bakery Merchandising" students are creating special bakery treats for you to take home and enjoy!

All that's missing is YOU!!!!

We need guests to WOW and we greatly appreciate those who take the time to dine with us and support our culinarians in training!

SPECIAL EVENT DINNERS 


31st Annual Wassail Dinner

December 7, 2017 • 6pm

Traditional English Fare with a contemporary twist is served with appropriate wines and beats, and a gaggle of jesters and minstrels inciting general mayhem. Enjoy our cocktail hour with hand crafted signature cocktails, wine and beer at our cash bar accompanied by our complementary appetizers before dinner service.  Wassail Dinners sell out quickly every year, please purchase tickets early.

Chinese New Year Festival

February 22, 2018 • 6pm
Friends, family and neighbors please join us to celebrate the auspicious year of the Dog with a festive five course dinner of traditional Chinese cuisine accompanied by wine service. Gather for good fortune and spirits at our cash bar of signature cocktails, wine and beer as well as passed complimentary hors de oeuvres. Cast away bad luck and bring forth good luck by wearing your best red garment in pursuit of a bright and beautiful year.

Espionage Spy vs Spy

April 19, 2018
FOR YOUR EYES ONLY:
Your mission, should you choose to accept it, involves an adventure filled with exotic culinary delights.

MISSION DETAILS:  You are under specific instructions to enjoy a five course dinner accompanied by a secret wine selection to be revealed to you at the appropriate time. We need new agents so bring family or friends who have not been compromised or corrupted.  Come dressed to kill and join us for a cocktail, wine or beer at our cash bar with passed appetizers as you assume your secret agent identity.

RENDEZVOUS POINT:  Culinary Studies Institute at Oakland Community College.  As always, should any member of your team be caught or compromised, the secretary will disavow all knowledge of your actions. This message will self-destruct in five seconds.

LUNCH & DINNER BUFFETS


Holiday Evening Buffet

November 30, 2017 • 5:30pm - 8:00pm
Celebrate the holidays with merriment and joy with your family, club or corporate gathering. Come indulge on lively libations at our cash bar and feast on culinary creations from delectable starters all the way to delightful finishes. This is an excellent opportunity to bring your group together to toast another successful year with good cheer.

Price is $25 per person, cash bar is available.  Paid reservation required. 


Valentines Buffet

February 1, 2018 • 11:15am - 1:00pm
Start you Valentines celebration early and bring your sweethearts to our Grand Lunch Buffet on February 1st from 11:15am - 1pm. Our menu features appetizers, salads, fish seafood poultry and beef entrées, starches and vegetables and a "lovely" dessert table.

Price is $12 per person. Tickets to be purchased at time of the event.


St. Patrick's Evening Buffet

March 15, 2018 • 5:30pm - 8:00pm
Celebrate the luck of the Irish with a wee bit of Marlarkey and lots of good cheer with your family, club or corporate gathering. Come indulge on lively libations at our cash bar and feast on Emerald Isle culinary creations from delectable starters all the way to delightful finishes.

Price is $25 per person, cash bar is available.  Paid reservation required.

Outside of our Wednesday Bakery Counter, we have some special bakery events that feature items created by our students. All bakery events are on Thursdays, please note the dates and times below.
