Welcome to Counseling - We're here to assist you develop a personal plan of success by helping you

All of our counselors have graduate degrees in Counseling, Psychology or related fields and most are Licensed Professional Counselors through the State of Michigan.  Students are encouraged to work with the same counselor throughout their academic journey.

You can visit with a counselor by appointment or during scheduled walk-in times. If you have questions, please contact any campus. 

NEW OPTION FOR RETURNING STUDENTS: Returning students in good academic standing can make their own appointment online through their MyOCC account. 

ALL campuses have walk-in counseling every Wednesday from 8:30 am to 6:00 pm.; because walk-in sessions are limited to 10 - 15 minutes, note that not all topics are suited for walk-in.  Review guidelines here!

Educational Counseling

Counselors are able to assist with a wide range of educational counseling services. It is important to meet with a counselor on a regular basis to make sure your academic choices are helping to meet your goals. Counselors can assist with the following:

Career Counseling

The professional counselors at OCC provide many services to help students better understand themselves and the career options that can help to meet life goals. Free career counseling is offered to students through appointments where counselors will help with self-exploration, career options, information gathering and career decision making. In addition, there are career assessment instruments available at a minimal fee as an additional resource in the career counseling process.

Personal Counseling

Professional counselors are available to assist you with personal and social issues that might impact your college success and personal well-being. Referrals to off-campus resources are available when needed. Frequent areas that students talk to counselors about include:
